Byron Williams of Oakland started a shootout with police on
Interstate 580 and told them after he was subdued that he wanted to
attack the ACLU and a progressive group called Tides Foundation. His
mother said he was angry at the "left-wing agenda."
Williams, who didn´t seriously injure any police officers, said
he was trying to "start a revolution" with his would-be murders.
Williams received gunshot wounds to his limbs and appeared in court in a
wheelchair, looking down in silence.
Williams donned a bulletproof vest and put three guns into his
mother´s pickup truck, heading for San Fransisco. He was pulled over for
weaving through traffic and speeding, after which he opened fire on
California Highway Patrol officers.
