New Zealand: A 40-year-old male is recovering in hospital after
having surgery to remove a .22 bullet from his backside. The injury
happened when his dog stepped on a rifle, causing it to fire during a
hunting trip.
The man was transported via helicopter to Whangarei Hospital
where he is reportedly now in a stable condition. His party had been
hunting wild pigs.
According to police his hunting companions were under the
impression that the gun wasn´t loaded. In the wake of this incident,
authorities have reiterated warnings about the need for safety
precautions when transporting guns.
